Cognitive Behavioral Psychotherapy (CBT)
CBT was introduced as a psychotherapeutic method by American psychiatrist Aaron Beck in the late 1950s. (Beck, 1976)
According to this method all behaviors are learned and can be modified through a learning process. It is based on the view that it is not the events that create our emotions but the way we interpret them.
The therapist-patient relationship plays a key role in treatment.
